On the eve of the World Poetry Day, a grand multi-lingual, poetry symposium under the collaborative efforts of The G. N. K. Urdu & Anjuman-e-Shair-O-Adab J&K, was held at the Head office of The Private Schools Association, Srinagar.
On Monday, March 21, interestingly ,coinciding with Novroz, the first day of Kashmir Spring. Gen. Secretary poet cum critic Mr. Ashraf Ashhؔar took to the dice to welcome the honorable guests with a warm heart. Poets from across different parts of the valley turned the event into a vibrant one with their emotional poetic presentations and were hugely applauded by the literary stalwarts holding the chair of Presidency .
The honorary guest of honor, Mr. Javed Iqbal Kukroo, the London based Kashmiri literary figure, had volumes in praise for the participants for their innovative presentations. The editor in chief who had been invited to the session to monitor the whole proceedings from a critic’s eye. He stressed on more such events in future to keep the literary movements alive with more pronounced focus on reformative poetry.
The renowned poet & scholar, Dr. Farida Koul presided over the session, who too had her opportunity to present her poems. She appealed one & all to cultivate the habit of book reading. The renowned poetess cum fiction writer,
Ms Dr. Nelofar Naaz Nehvi the chief guest in presidency, minted no words to encourage the emerging poets & poetesses. She strongly advocated for giving utmost importance to time, saying that time if used wisely makes you king and if lost ,would push you down the hill.
Mr. Nissar Azam, the Sahitya Academy Awardee, anchored the whole session with the valuable support sought from Qurat Khan.
It would be pertinent to mention here that the renowned scholar, Mr. G. N. Kumar who happens to be a glittering National Level Literary figure ,offered the words of thanks to guests. The poets were awarded honorary certificates too.
